About Electra the Eagle Yanika, November 11, 2023November 19, 2023 So, you’re probably wondering who Electra the Eagle is. Well, the Green River is basically in my backyard, so there is plenty of vegetation near my house, including a lot of tall trees. And in one of those tall trees in a place where an eagle likes to perch. After a bit of research, I determined that the eagle was most likely a female, hence the name. Electra means “bright” in Greek, so I thought that it would be a fitting name for such a magnificent bird. According to some sites, female bald eagles have bigger bodies and lower-pitched calls than male bald eagles, so I have determined that Electra is most likely a female. From Electra’s plumage, the feathers at the top of an eagle’s head, Electra is around five years old. Juvenile eagles have a brown plumage, which slowly turns white as the eagle grows older. When the eagle reaches five and a half years of age, they acquire their definitive plumage, a snowy white color, that they will have for the rest of their life. Wildlife EagleWildlife
